Was einem so alles passieren kann wenn man in einem „Plattenfriedhof“ in Brooklyn blind auf Vinyljadd geht? Wir wollten es herausfinden. BACKSPIN präsentiert „The Thing“. Benannt nach dem berüchtigten Thrift Store in New York machten sich Niko BACKSPIN, Boogiedown Base und 12 Finger Dan an die Crates bei „The Thing“ und fischten sich per Zufallsprinzip 12 (mehr oder weniger) obskure Platten aus den Regalen.

Aus jedem dieser 12 Platten haben B-Base und 12 Finger Dan je einen Beat gebaut und der Rap-Community zur Verfügung gestellt. Für das optimale Vintagefeeling haben die beiden die Beats, ausschließlich auf der legendären SP1200 produziert. Dabei stand ihnen für jeden Beat lediglich 10 Sekunden Samplezeit zur Verfügung. Die Challenge war geboren.

The Thing Vol. 1 wird es in einer Auflage von 100 Tapes geben.
